Diagnosing the internet
I did a little trouble-shooting outside the house and I found EXPOSED COPPER in the lines. As soon as the January rains started, the lines started shorting.

Engine information
One of the perks of having a modern vehicle is that you can use devices to monitor the engine and drive train performance. I was recently using my Vgate Bluetooth Scan Tool OBD2 Scanner to record speed and engine RPM values during a short trip. In the following plot, you can clearly see the six gears of the automatic transmission as straight lines in speed vs RPM.

So many cars!
Well, this time I decided to do some data mining on Cars.com to help me figure out what is going on with new and used cars in the area. A little html parsing magic later, I was able to survey all of the new and used cars available in my target class: midsize sedans.

So yes, it’s true, I spend all day furiously working with solar cells, and then drive home at 16 MPG. But at least it’s above 10 MPG!
